When I try to install Adobe Reader X (10.1.2) on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard with Service Pack 1 I receive this error:
error 1325: microsoft is not a valid short file name
Resolution:
By default the adobe site lets you download the Windows 7 version. You have to click on the link that says: Do you have a different language or operating system?
After you select the right OS , language and version and you download the file, Adobe X installs with no errors.
Note. As of now you can only select Windows Server 2008 for OS, but that worked for me.
